Wade Purry

Wade Purry was a childhood classmate and friend of Randy Charles Johnson in Bean Station, Tennessee. Randy says they met in the second grade in 1979. Two separate videos preserve Randy's memory of Wade and use his life as the basis for anti-drug commentary.^[1][2]

School years

Randy remembers Wade as a friendly boy. At a school Christmas gift exchange, Wade brought a small blue football. Randy privately disliked the gift, then drew Wade's name and received it. The mundane story is the central childhood memory repeated in both surviving transcripts.

Later life and death

According to Randy's account, Wade's behavior changed in adulthood. Randy relays a cousin's allegation that Wade assaulted his sister after she failed to pass along a telephone message, and says that police were called and Wade went to jail. These details are Randy's recollection rather than independently verified reporting.^[1][2]

Randy says Wade died in 2021 at age 50 after using methamphetamine. A later video identifies him as "Wade Purry" and names him with Randy's cousin and John Brown as people whose deaths Randy attributes to drugs.^[3]

Randy's anti-drug message

Randy frames Wade's story as a warning. He asks viewers not to use or sell drugs and describes methamphetamine use as a "death sentence." The videos contrast the friendly child Randy knew with the adult life and death he recounts.
