Randy Charles Johnson

Early life

Randy Charles Johnson was born on August 20, 1971, at approximately 5:50 AM, in Middlesboro, Kentucky. He was a ten-month baby — his mother Agnes Johnson carried him a full month past term. Throughout her pregnancy, Agnes assumed she would have a girl. A Chinese doctor delivered Randy; after the birth, the doctor spoke to Agnes in Chinese, and a nurse translated: "I think what he told you was you have a healthy baby boy." Agnes was surprised, Randy notes, but not disappointed.

Although his parents lived in Virginia at the time, Middlesboro was the nearest hospital across the Kentucky border. Randy does not recall the name of the hospital where he was born. The family moved to Bean Station, Tennessee in May 1973, settling first on Lakeshore Road before moving to their long-term residence.

Randy has never held a driver's license and does not own a car. He walks everywhere in Bean Station, occasionally taking taxis for essential trips such as veterinary emergencies. His mobility is decreased; he uses a Hurry Cane.

Family

Randy's family history is extensively documented. His mother Agnes Johnson (1948–2013) was born in an ambulance on the side of the road, grew up in Sneedville, Tennessee, and suffered from Paranoid schizophrenia. His father Charles Franklin Johnson (1947–2013) worked in wood products and at Burke Line, and died of leukemia four months after Agnes's death. They married on September 25, 1965; both were underage.

Randy had two grandfathers: Burkey Green (1910–1998) on his mother's side and Burley Johnson (c.1923–1994) on his father's. Burley died of an allergic reaction to Dilantin after his wife and son delayed taking him to the hospital by three days. Randy himself had an allergic reaction to Trilafon allergy in 1996.

Randy's paternal grandparents Bonnie Johnson and Burley were dumpster divers who sold their finds at yard sales and flea markets. His maternal grandmother Laura Green died of cancer in April 1957 at age 44, when Agnes was eight.^[13] His great-grandfather Frank Johnson married a 45-year-old at age 90 and died at 93. Another great-grandfather was institutionalized and beaten by an attendant for praying.

His uncles Norman Green and Stanley Green both lived with the family. Norman was mentally ill, released from Eastern State mental institution in 1982 into the Johnsons' care, and died of lung cancer in 2001. Stanley is remembered for his excessive bologna consumption — "four or five slices per sandwich" — which "used to piss Mom off." His aunt Ina Mae Green outlived Agnes despite being eleven years older.

Education

Randy attended Bean Station Elementary School from 1977 to 1986, failing the first year. He graduated in May 1986. The school practiced corporal punishment — paddlings for infractions including forgetting to answer a test question, talking, and minor misbehavior. Randy considers paddlings to have been wrong. He had some good teachers including Miss Horn Wine; a classmate, Keith Black, died years later. Randy left formal schooling on August 29, 1986, at age 15. In 1993 he began a correspondence course, completed it in June 1995, and received his high-school diploma from ICS Newport Pacific on July 5, 1995. See Education of Randy Charles Johnson.

Health

Randy says he has paranoid schizophrenia and takes medication every day. He specifically says that he has never been institutionalized because the medication has helped him manage the condition.^[14]

In May 2026, Randy underwent a colonoscopy and two major operations at Morristown Hamblen Hospital. He says the operations removed most of his colon and left him with a permanent ostomy. He transferred to Select Specialty Hospital on May 18, moved to Knoxville Rehabilitation Hospital on June 8, and returned home on June 19.^[15][16][17] Later accounts describe repeated leaks and further independent appliance changes, including one performed without his glasses after a nurse-assisted change failed within hours.^[18]

Randy smoked and used other tobacco products for many years. He identifies December 31, 2023 at 11:45 p.m. as his last cigarette and describes the period since then as tobacco-free.^[19]

Faith

Randy is a devout Christian. His mother bought him a Bible book-and-record set in 1980, which introduced him to scripture. He thanks God for every meal and every day of life. His theological videos cover Adam and Eve, Moses, King Solomon ("a really big gigantic piece of garbage" in his old age), Noah's Ark, Good Friday, and numerous other topics. He records himself singing Christmas carols including "The First Noel" and "Mark the Herald Angels Sing."

He believes God loves everyone equally regardless of skin color or wealth, and frequently tells viewers "God loves you." He says grace before every meal and believes one should "praise the Lord daily, even if things are going bad."

Pets

Randy has documented strong bonds with several Chihuahuas. Agnes, whom he described as being like a daughter, lived with him from August 27, 2013 until July 11, 2020.^[20] He acquired Hazel on August 18, 2020; she died on December 9, 2023.^[21] Puppy died in August 2023. Later videos document Red and Bruiser as his two dogs.^[22] Randy says Red survived a serious illness in summer 2025 after several veterinary visits, and that Randy's brother has cared for him since the 2026 operations.^[23]

Interests

Randy's interests span Video gaming (Phoenix and Donkey Kong are his favorite arcade games; consoles from Atari 2600 through PS5), Vinyl records (33/45/78 RPM; Roger Williams, Quartz, Elvis Presley), and classic television including Doctor Who (since 1984), The Dukes of Hazzard, Superman films, Columbo, Father Ted, On The Buses, and Dusty's Trail. He despises modern Hollywood and refuses to watch new movies or TV shows.

Relationships

Randy's autobiographical videos frequently memorialize relatives, friends, and pets who were important to him. His public tributes include childhood friend Wade, friend and cousin John Brown, and his close friend Tammy, who died on January 5, 2026.

Work and finances

Randy's only documented paid employment was in summer 1984, building wooden pallets for Jimmy Elliott with his mother; Randy says he built about 50 and received $14 total. He has spoken extensively about poverty — saving $125 monthly by quitting cigarettes, buying refurbished computers, walking to buy his own birthday presents. His father worked at Burke Line. He has no driver's license, no car, and relies on walking and occasional taxis.

Randy has expressed frustration with the cost of goods and services, from "Outrageous Gas Prices" to "ignorant and greedy eBay sellers." He has fond memories of now-defunct discount stores like Salvage Unlimited in Morristown.

YouTube career

Randy operates three YouTube channels with 1,584 catalogued videos; the local research archive contains 1,251 usable transcripts. His first video, "My New YouTube Channel," marked the beginning of his presence. He celebrated subscriber milestones at 70, 100, and 1,000 subscribers. His signature sign-off — "Well, this has been my video. Thanks for watching" — appears on nearly every upload.

Randy writes poetry and has published work on poetry-sharing websites including Postpoems. His poems include personal dedications, religious writing, and memorial pieces. He says that every year since the death of his mother, Agnes Johnson, he has written a birthday poem for her; the 2026 poem was the fourteenth installment in that annual series.^[24]

Political views

Randy identifies as a Republican but holds populist economic positions. In "If I Were President," he advocated taxing the rich to fund housing for the homeless, prioritizing American veterans, and an America First foreign policy. His favorite president is George Washington. He supports Donald Trump (made a "Message to President Trump"), is critical of Joe Biden and "woke" culture, and has made videos about "Woke M&M Characters" and "A Message to Woke Hollywood."

Daily life

Randy's daily life in Bean Station is characterized by walking, shopping, playing video games, listening to records, and caring for his dogs. He documents local events, weather, household appliances, food, and other ordinary details.

Thursday remains Randy's grocery-shopping day. When his parents were alive and his father worked at Woodcraft, Randy says the three of them shopped every Thursday at 4:00 p.m., first at Food Lion and later at Walmart.^[25][26] He still buys groceries on Thursdays, now earlier in the day, but says the routine is not the same without his parents.^[27]
